Written assessment — assessor wants exact words
  • Name the Act in full: Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (your state's WHS Act).
  • Always say rated capacity, load centre, data plate, three points of contact.
  • Pre-start: list at least 8 items including seatbelt and data plate.
  • Show the formula on every calc: Cap × LC = Cap × LC.
  • Tip-over: stay in, brace, lean away — never jump.
  • Park: forks down, neutral, park brake, key out.
  • It's competency-based: every critical item must be correct.
Practical assessment — what the RTO assessor watches
  • Walk-around pre-start out loud before you start the truck.
  • Seatbelt on every time, even moving 1 metre.
  • Horn at every blind corner and door.
  • Travel forks low (commonly 100–150 mm) and mast back, no exceptions.
  • Look in the direction of travel — reverse with the load on slopes.
  • Park sequence in order: lower, tilt forward, neutral, brake, key.
  • Three points of contact getting on and off. Never jump down.
